* General Guidelines for Grant Application

The Application Process -

The Board of Directors of the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation meet annually in October to review proposals.  Applicants will be informed by letter of the Board's decision shortly after the annual meeting.  You may begin by filling out a grant application form.

The Application Deadline -

Requests for future grants are to be submitted by August 31.  Please plan a year in advance if you are seeking funding for fall or winter dance programs. 

Restrictions -

The Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation's corporate purpose is to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, therefore:

  • Grants are restricted to private nonprofit or public tax exempt organizations for purposes defined under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Grants are only provided to organizations in the United States.

  • Funds are not provided for building maintenance, construction, office expenses, or administration costs.

  • Funds are not provided for health or medical research purposes.

  • Grants cannot be made to individuals.

Proposal Requirements -

Please submit the following items with your grant request:

  • A grant application letter outlining the strategic link between your proposal and the Foundation's mission, and proposal describing your project and funding needs

  • A copy of your organization's 501(c)(3) certificate

  • Project budget

  • Annual budget

  • Board and key personnel list

  • Most recent audited financial statements

  • Mission statement and history of your organization

Please keep the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation mission in mind when writing your grant proposal stating your organization's mission and goals, the nature of your project, and financial needs. 

Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation's Mission

In tribute to Rudolf Nureyev, whose love of the new in dance sprang from a profound faith in ballet's traditional past, the Rudolf Nureyev® Dance Foundation seeks to preserve and protect the history and tradition of dance while simultaneously encouraging its progress and development.
Specifically, the Foundation aims to perpetuate Rudolf Nureyev's name, and to advance his vision and contribution to dance through its study, performance and appreciation.  
Financially, through grants to benefit dance, the Foundation aims to carry on the legacy that Rudolf Nureyev has left behind - his extraordinary dedication to the art of dance.
  

The Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation has provided funding for the following:

  • Dance performance 

  • Dance school endowment funds and scholarships

  • Dance education and community outreach programs

  • Dance film archives and preservation

  • Dance film presentation

  • Publications related to dance

  • Revivals of classic ballets, costumes and sets

  • Revivals of Rudolf Nureyev's choreography

  • New choreography

Grant Reporting Requirements -
Grants shall be conditioned upon the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation receiving recognition for its contribution and requests an accounting of the funds spent.  Grant recipients may fill out a grant report or send a financial statement.
